What is monoblock air conditioning?

Monoblock air conditioning is often called condenserless air conditioning or all-in-one air conditioning. In practical terms, it is a wall-mounted heat pump unit that cools and heats a room without a separate outdoor condenser.

Unlike a portable air conditioner, a fixed monoblock unit is designed as a permanent installation. It is properly sized for the space, mounted securely on an internal wall and professionally connected to the services it needs. It avoids the trailing hose, open window and temporary feel associated with portable units.

Air-ducted models transfer air through discreet external wall grilles. They typically require two core-drilled openings through an outside wall, but there is no condenser sitting on the elevation, balcony, roof or ground. This is often the preferred approach for bedrooms, living rooms, loft conversions and garden offices.

Water-cooled models work differently. They reject heat via a water supply and drainage arrangement rather than external air grilles. They can be particularly useful in internal rooms or buildings where an external wall is unavailable or cannot be altered. Why no outdoor box matters
